Aesthetic Movement birds eye maple faux bamboo full sized bed frame by R. J. Horner circa 1870s-1890s. Rare oriental style with dragon heads, gold leaf floral elements, intricate overlay and pineapple details.
The bed frame includes a headboard, footboard, and two sideboards. The bed is 75.75" high, 63.75" wide, and 82.5" long. The inside measurements (between the side panels and head and foot boards) are 57.75" wide and 76" long. The bed needs slats to support the mattress. Slats are not included in this sale. The casters are missing, so protective padding on the bed pillars are recommended to protect the floor.
Good antique condition with some wear to the finish (especially on the foot board and sideboards) that makes a beautiful age patina (see photos). It is clean, sturdy, structurally sound, and beautiful. The bed is disassembles into 4 pieces (headboard, footboard, and 2 sideboards). Assembling the bed is easy. All parts work fine.
Heavy, bring help of at least one person. Truck is needed for transportation. The headboard will not fit a minivan (checked by us).
