Very Rare/Highly Collectible !!
The Vintage Cigar Leather Mayfair Steamer Secretary Trunk Desk from Restoration Hardware was constructed by antiques dealer and furniture maker, Timothy Oulton of London. The reproduction steamer trunk is made by covering a solid wood frame in handmade distressed vintage cigar aniline-dyed leather and accented with 3,000 (yes, that many) hand-hammered brass nail heads. Open her up and you’ll find a pull-down desktop, myriad drawers, accessories cubbies, a bookshelves, and even a wire management system all lined in leather-edged canvas. Because it’s hand-made, each steamer trunk is unique in finish.
Trunk has three brass latches, for secure closure. Rests on (8) HD caster wheels. (4) of which have foot brakes. Casters are mounted to the bottom at every corner of the (opened) trunk, to allow easy movement and provide stability while opening/closing.
NOTE: Includes strap for securing to a wall or ceiling.
Surprisingly easy to maneuver.
Condition: 9/10; Pre-Owned/ Restored; I purchased from a 2nd owner, in very good condition, needing a thorough cleaning, greasing the file drawer slides and replacing a section of worn canvas linen, on the drop-down, desk area. Structurally, its super sound, fully functioning and a thrill to use!(Note: pics are of trunk pre-refinishing. Fresh pics are forthcoming)
