This is one of the BEST Tanker Desks, that i’ve had the pleasure of restoring. Great lines, solid steel construction, and a gum rubber top, that’s excellent for paperwork; firmer than a leather top, softer than wood, and it almost guarantees to never let your papers slide off the edge!
Three drawers;
1) one bottom, double-deep, file drawer, w/ an adjustable file divider
2) one top accessories drawer, w/ an adjustable divider bar,
3) one center pen/paper/accessories drawer
AND
a double length, spring loaded, pull out, work surface.
NOTE: with 12” of table top overhang, on the right side, there’s room for an assistant to pull up a chair!
Condition:9/10; Vintage/Restored; I received this desk in very good condition, but for the usual scratches, dents, missing hardware and aging paint, that’s to be expected from a piece of this age and use.
Restoration Work Performed: I removed all but two of the dents and deep scratches, because i like war wounds. It gives it an authenticity, that proves it’s quality. Plus, i don’t trust anything fifty+ yrs old, that looks perfect.
After sanding i applied four coats of Midnight Blue enamel in Satin finish. It awaits your choice of clear coat; Gloss or Satin?
