"Ignatius E. Thayer 1840-1904" is inscribed on the back
Ignatius E. Thayer was a former captain, surveyor and shipbuilder
Some of his papers are kept in the Bancroft Library at U.C. Berkeley
Approximate size: 8 1/2" diameter x 2 1/2" thick
The barometer has two small legs and a brass loop on which to hang it
Made in Germany
Has been in our family over 75 years. History unknown
