Grand Lake Kitchen, a lively, high volume restaurant on Lake Merritt, is known for its daily brunch menu, outdoor seating, and charming dinner service. We are exciting, successful, and growing! Our new location in the Dimond neighborhood is opening soon and we are looking for a dynamite FOH team to help us embark on the next chapter of our business. The work will be both challenging and rewarding.

Job Requirements:

HOSTS:
The host position is not an entry-level position at Grand Lake Kitchen. Service and hospitality are our #1 priority. Do you love to host but serve instead because it makes more money? Then this is the job for you! We are a pooled house so the host will make money like a server.
- 2+ years of server experience in a busy, high volume restaurant
- OpenTable experience
- You are a teamplayer with a positive, gracious attitude.
- You must hustle while remaining hospitable and approachable.
- You must be confident, polished, warm, and drama-free.
- Job duties may include but are not limited to: answering the phone, running food/drinks, serving shifts

SERVERS:
- 2+ years of server experience in a busy, high volume restaurant
- You must love people and be gracious, even when it is busy.
- Cleanliness and a polished presentation are expected.
- Teamwork is crucial. You must be a great communicator and take direction well.
- Working knowledge of wine, local and deli ingredients is a plus


BARTENDERS:
- 2+ years of table service experience as well as 2+ years of bartender experience, preferably within a restaurant
- Working knowledge of spirits, fresh ingredients, and classic recipes is a must
- You must be speedy, clean, reliable, and creative.
- You must be a great communicator and take direction well.
- Job duties include but are not limited to: making drinks and cocktails, waiting on a busy dining counter, bar prep, cleaning, etc.


BARISTAS/TO GO COUNTER CASHIERS:
- 1+ years of coffee and espresso making and/or cash register experience at a coffee shop, restaurant, or similar environment
- Cleanliness and a polished presentation are expected.
- You are friendly, hospitable, and ready to learn.


FOOD RUNNERS:
- The ability to multitask in a busy, high volume restaurant
- Job duties include but are not limited to: running food, stocking, supporting the bar
- You have hustle, a hospitable personality, a great attitude and are willing to learn. No experience? If the fit is right, we’ll train you!


FLOOR MANAGERS:
Requirements:
- Floor management or shift lead experience. If we like your spirit but your experience is just shy, we will train you!
- If you have management experience, that's awesome. Are you flexible? Always willing to learn more?
- At least 2 years of server and/or restaurant bartender experience. You have to know what you’re teaching.
- You are a problem-solver, detail-oriented, and a self-starter. You can follow direction as well as give it.
- Confidence and a great attitude - this is hard work! You must believe in yourself and your ability to lead others.

Duties:
- Your number one job is to give great service!
- Nurture and lead our staff of employees.
- Good communication is key. You report directly to the GM and must work well within a team of managers.
- Must actively use email, google drive, and google calendar.
- Ordering product and tracking inventory.
- Shifts are around 10 hours each, 5 days/week.

Bonus points:
- Experience ordering (dry goods, NA beverages, etc.)
- You want to own your own bar or restaurant one day
- Sommelier certification
- Maitre' D or hosting experience at a well-run, high volume restaurant (it makes a difference!)
