SoDo Cafe is a weekend cafe residency inside Hammerling Wines in Berkeley, run by SoDo Donuts, the Bay Area's first all-sourdough donut company. We make everything from scratch, we care a lot about quality, and we're a small, close-knit operation.
We're looking for a warm, capable barista who loves coffee, knows how to hold down a busy service, and genuinely enjoys talking to people about food.
The shifts:
Saturdays and Sundays (Fridays coming soon), typically 5 to 8 hour shifts. This is a part-time role, 2 to 3 days per week. Weekend availability is required.
What you'll be doing:
- Opening and/or closing the cafe
- Pulling espresso, steaming milk, building drinks to spec
- Taking orders, handling the POS accurately, keeping service moving
- Talking knowledgeably about our menu: sourdough donuts, house-made confections, chocolates, seasonal items, allergens
- Keeping the coffee station clean and stocked throughout service
- Light support tasks as needed (packing orders, restocking, general cleanup)
Pay and perks:
- $20/hour + tips (tips are pooled among staff working that service day)
- Family meal on shifts 5 hours or more

What we're looking for:
- Genuine barista experience, espresso bar comfort is a must
- Weekend availability, reliable and on time

- Food handler card required (or willing to get one within 30 days)

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT (Confections + Donuts) | Part-Time - Full-Time Potential | Oakland/Emeryville
SoDo Donuts and EC Confections: small-batch chocolates, confections, and the Bay Area's first all-sourdough donuts. We're a growing, ingredient-obsessed operation run by a hands-on owner, and we're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented kitchen person to join the production team.
The role:
This is a production kitchen position at our facility in Oakland. Approximately 3 to 4 days per week, including early morning weekend shifts. Weekend availability is required, and you must be comfortable starting early.
What you'll be doing:
Day to day, you'll be working alongside the owner learning real pastry and confections production from the ground up.
That includes:
- Bread baking fundamentals, including sourdough
- Custards and sauces
- Cookies, cakes, and baked goods
- Candy making and caramel work
- Chocolate and confections production
- Portioning, finishing, and packaging finished product
- Labeling and maintaining organized product storage
- Keeping your station and shared areas clean to food safety standards
- Communicating clearly about progress, yield issues, or anything that comes up
