I have tested this and it works. The iPod you see in the picture is not included.
The remote is brand new, and I have tested out to see if it works and it works perfectly. I have put back the plastic so the battery does not drain, but the battery is brand new with the remote.
Not sure how long the rechargeable battery in the system will last by itself though.
