Up for your consideration is a legendary piece of golden-era Japanese engineering: the Technics SL-1600 Fully Automatic Direct Drive Turntable. Manufactured in the late 1970s, this model is highly revered by audiophiles who want the bulletproof speed accuracy and massive torque of Technics' famous direct-drive system, combined with the luxurious convenience of a fully automatic deck.
Unlike standard consumer tables, the SL-1600 features a sophisticated sub-chassis floating suspension system that isolates the platter and tonearm from external acoustic feedback and foot traffic.
Technical & Cosmetic Condition:
Chassis & Platter: Heavy die-cast aluminum construction. The table is structurally rock-solid and comes with the original heavy rubber platter mat. It has been safely stored and will look incredible with a quick cosmetic detailing.
Tonearm Assembly: Precision S-shaped tonearm with smooth cueing dampening. Includes the original factory Technics headshell.
Cartridge: Pre-mounted with a vintage Stanton 500 cartridge—an absolute analog workhorse beloved for its high output, rugged tracking, and warm, punchy, vintage presentation.
Dust Cover: Original factory-tinted dust cover is included with original hinges. No cracks or deep breaks; just the typical minor surface swirling expected from a vintage deck, which can easily be polished out to a mirror finish.
