Could changing when or what you eat help manage bipolar symptoms?
UC Berkeley is conducting the largest study ever on how eating patterns affect mood, sleep, and energy in people with bipolar disorder. We're comparing two approaches: the Mediterranean Diet and Eating by the Clock (eating during a 10-hour window).
This study focuses on eating patterns, not weight loss or restriction.
Who can participate:
- Ages 18-65
- Currently receiving care for bipolar disorder
- Remote options (US, Canada, UK, Australia, India) or in-person (Bay Area)
What's involved:
- Track your eating
- Follow an assigned food plan for 8 weeks
- Continue your regular treatment
- Check-ins throughout, plus follow-ups over the next year
- Receive $25/hour for assessments
We want to understand your experience—what helps and what doesn't. Your insights will help us better support people living with bipolar disorder.
