I didn’t think I’d ever consider listing my 2001 Lexus GS430 for sale, but life happens and after 15yrs of loyal ownership, I’m considering letting the car go to another enthusiast as I move on to something else.
I purchased the car back in 2011. The car came from Missouri and when it showed up at my door-step in CA with 90,000 miles, it appeared brand new. It looked like it had just come off the showroom floor. I had been looking for a white GS430 with tan interior for a long time so I was thrilled to have one in this condition.
The car has been my primary vehicle during the time I’ve owned it. It’s been a great balance of performance, aesthetics, luxury, and reliability. I’ve put about 100,000 miles on the car myself during the 15yrs I’ve owned it (~190,000 on the odometer now) and because I’ve mostly worked from home between 2020-2025 along with having a short 2-mile commute from 2013-2018, the car has low miles for its age. The 190,000 miles over 25yrs comes out to about 7,500 miles per year of usage.
The car is extremely reliable; I wouldn’t hesitate to jump in it and drive cross country today if needed.
I’ve done quite a bit of suspension work and other maintenance since I’ve owned it. Items that have been replaced during my ownership:
Caster Arm Bushings
Tie Rod Ends
Balljoints
Sway Bar Bushings and Endlinks
Rear Knuckle Bushings
4-wheel brake job was just completed in 2025
New Kuhmo tires installed in 2025 (245-40-18 front, 255-40-18 rear)
Alignment was done in 2025
Radiator was replaced in 2025
Transmission drain n fill was done several years ago
Modifications:
Megan LP Coilovers.
SPC Adj Upper Control Arms (new design), allow car to be aligned to factory specs
Rear Adjustable Toe Links, allow car to be aligned to factory specs
Mark Levinson Audio Amplifier was swapped from a later model (2004-2005). The 2001 unit is known to have audio issues
H&R Bolt-on Spacers (20mm front, 25mm rear) for the flush look.
Upgraded to 2006-up 18x8 GS wheels
Fender lips have been clearanced to avoid any rubbing issues
Magnaflow 2.5” catback exhaust (see video)
If I were buying the car, here are the items that I’d want to be aware of for full disclosure to the new owner (all minor stuff but if I were a buyer, I’d want to know):
The driver side seat does have a small rip
The clear coat has just started to lift off on a small part of the hood (passenger side)
Front bumper (driver side), has a very small crack. Not noticeable unless you are looking for it.
One of the AC servo motors is making noise. I have the replacement motor and if I don’t get to it by the time I sell the car, I’ll include the new motor with the sale.
In addition to recent pictures, I’ve also included some older pictures when the car was on 19” BMW Style-95 wheels, for reference.
Car is located in Pleasanton, CA about 40min outside of San Francisco. A large stack of records will be included with the car sale.
Yes, I am asking more than avg for an above avg example of a 2001-2005 GS430 but I think the car is worth it. As you know, there are plenty of cheaper options on Craigslist if that’s the type of car you are looking for.
Although I’d consider shipping, my preference is that the new owner come see the car in person before the sale
Please PM me with any questions and I’m glad to speak by phone with any serious party.
