I am selling my 2003 E46 M3 convertible because a baby is on the way and needed a more family friendly car. I have owned the car for the last 3 years since 97k miles. I bought the car from Steven's Creek BMW in San Jose where it was traded in by woman for a new M2 (it says something about the condition of the car that they would put a 14 year old car on their lot) I have a pic from the BMW records of the maintenance by BMW dealers several years ago. I have never raced or abused the car, mostly commuting and trips to Napa and the coast.
The car has 115,3XX miles on it and the S54 motor and 6-speed manual transmission have zero issues. The convertible top is in great shape, cycles perfectly and does not leak. The seats and interior are in very-good shape and have no tears. Cosmetically speaking the car is a gorgeous head turner. However it is a driver’s car, not a show vehicle. Cosmetic flaws include; curb rash on the wheels, minor paint imperfections on front bumper. I put new rear tires (Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+) on the vehicle ~ 5 months ago. The fronts are the same tire and have about 70% life remaining.
The not so good:
- At some point about 2 years ago the glovebox decided it didn't want to open anymore. I have never tried to force it and risk breaking it. If you get it open, you may find some embarrassing music inside.
- The shift knob leather is pretty tired and a little sun damaged. It has not became any worse as since I've owned it but a new shift knob would look nicer.
