Released for 2006, the "B7"-based S4 received an evolution of its predecessor's 4.2-liter V8 and a suspension system retuned to deliver a sportier driving experience. Visual tweaks set it apart from the A4, but it retained a relatively low-key design. Audi again positioned the S4 between the standard A4 and the range-topping RS4.
*595 units of the S4 were sold in America during the 2006 model year, according to Audi. 38 wore Sprint Blue Pearl Effect, and 17 of those were built with an Ebony leather interior.
Power for this S4 comes from a 4.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 340 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. It spins the four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission linked to a pair of shift paddles and Audi's Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system.
