1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate 5 Speed Black 76K Miles
This is an absolutely beautiful 88 Spider Graduate 5 speed, black.
Just passed smog in the fall, title is clean.
I have owned it since 2013 and driven it regularly as well as maintained it with great care. I bought it from a Caltrans Engineer in San Mateo who maintained it well, plus added a nifty "kill switch" - a switch in the trunk that shuts down the current to the battery for security, and he also outfitted it with a top of the line Alpine Stereo ( detachable face) and great speakers. The guy i bought it from was the second owner. It had about 55K miles on it when I bought it, and in 5 years I have put about 23k miles on it, and it's at 78,600 right now.
This car runs very well. I have had zero issues with anything in the engine, transmission or anything major.
Since I bought it i have done the following: brand new clutch, new brakes, new tires (about 2 years ago, have been rotated) , brand new soft top ( about 1.5 years ago, rear window is totally clear), re-upholstered the seats, and replaced the exhaust manifold which cracked at one point. I have changed the oil regularly and replaced the battery once. I also replaced the rear view mirror with an original and replaced the door handles on both sides. I also replaced the leather clutch cover around the clutch and fixed some of the buttons and things on the inside. I have spent about 4.5K on all these repairs and upgrades.
It comes with a lovely black leather cover for the top that snaps on. It is pictured with this on as well as with the soft top up.
I have a pile of receipts from the various repairs. It has passed smog every time it comes around. Currently registered and have the title. Just passed smog in the fall.
ISSUES: There are two issues, the tachometer does not work and hasn't since i bought it. All the other parts of the main panel work great. The other issue is the horn does not work as of now. I had it repaired once, then it eventually stopped working, and I have not had it fixed again. It is not a major repair. There are wires in the steering wheel that probably get crossed and it needs to be popped off and figured out.
It has one small ding in the body on the right passenger door. The left side passenger door has some paint chipping. Otherwise the body is in perfect condition.
Every single light, wipers, reverse lights, turn signals, headlamps, brights, all work perfectly.
It has been parked in my off street drive these five years, i have kept it covered pretty much all the time, and always covered in the rain. It has no rust. The engine is very clean. It has great looking rims and overall is a sweet little two seater. I will of course include the cover that I have for it with the car.
Before listing it I took it to the local Ferrari mechanic in Berkeley, Glenn at Oliveria, and he gave it a tune up and looked it over thoroughly, giving it a thumbs up mechanically. He tuned it up, swapped out some hoses, etc.
