This is a clean 1953 Buick Super, being sold by the second owner. It is an in-town daily driver in good condition. Nearly all features and accessories are operable, with only a few minor exceptions not necessary to driving the vehicle. Details of the various categories are listed below.
Body is straight and generally in excellent visual condition, having a custom paint job in 2010.
Mileage: Odometer says 92,310, it was at 88,312 when purchased from original owner's estate in 2005. Many sellers claim the odometer has not rolled over. I cannot claim that is true, but think it is likely, since the original owner was an orchard farmer living outside of Napa, CA., and reportedly did not travel. Title is clear.
Engine: V8, well maintained and believed to be strong, starts easily and runs well. Plugs changed and points calibrated within the past year, it possibly could use a tune-up at some point soon, since all older V8's need tuning about every 3000 miles, since they were not made to run on unleaded gas. Carburetor clean, water pump recently replaced, no radiator/water or oil leaks. Maintenance records available. A pre-sale inspection by a local classic car expert has been prepared, but any potential buyer welcome to secure his own report.
Battery: Brand new, 12 volt.
Transmission: Dynaflow. Does not burn transmission fluid. Accelerates smoothly (Dynaflows do not shift through gears, and provide a smooth ride),
Brakes recently inspected, brakes shoes good, except one rear wheel (see "Full Disclosure" below). Tires are fair, but have sufficient tread. Fitted with 5"-wide white wall Portawalls.
Accessories working: Heater, wipers, speedometer, odometer, temperature gauge, seat belts, all door and window operators and locks, all bulbs. Accessories not currently working: gas gauge, clock. Radio worked minimally at one point, then stopped; since it was not used or wanted, never diagnosed, but think it may be fuse.
This is part of the classic 1953 line, with the same much imitated front grill as the Skylark, which sells in 6 figures and is prized by collectors. It also has similarities as the 1951, 1952, 1954 and 1955 Buick models in many respects.
FULL DISCLOSURE: The right rear wheel bearing is leaking, also damaging the brake lining. The asking price includes repair of the wheel axle and brake by local classic car mechanic (estimated to be $800-$1,100). Alternately, buyer can repair themselves with credit deducted.
