Are you looking to go camping but can't throw down for an Airstream? Does the little bee in your bonnet shout for a go anywhere, do anything masterpiece of engineering?
Check out this 1984 Toyota Sandtana
It's a tilt top motorhome--small in size, big on bang. 4 banger, 5 speed manual. Luxurious and plush red interior. You'll never be too warm with the crank down windows and breeze.
She's a beauty and runs fresh and a spring chicken from a recent engine change. The OG 4 cylinder had no compression, replaced with a lower mileage 4 cylinder from someone's rock crawler conversion. Ready to rock and roll down the road.
Features: open floor plan
Crank down/up windows
5-speed manual trans with fresh clutch
Carbureted 4 cylinder engine (gas saver!)
Screen door for evening breeze
Locking cabin door
Low voltage lighting in interior
New tires on the front, plus two spares mounted on back (one is brand new)
I bought it in Hollister from a fellow who had recently hauled it out of someone's yard. He said it wouldn't run and needed some work. I've been able to get it running, clean it up and test drive it up to my mountain home. My plan was to put a Chevy V8 in it and gut the cabin to put in a more camper like set up--stove and proper bed, etc. I haven't gotten around to it and likely won't.
The interior is unchanged in the last two owners besides myself, and is functional as a camper as is. The body is fibreglass and not actually heavy.
It's been on plan non-operation since 2015
