I am the principal of Todd Jersey Architecture, Inc, a small but mighty ecological design firm in North Berkeley. My wife Susan and I run the business. I am the principal, she is lead PM. We have two full time employees (project captains) who are mid level at about 8-10 years of experience. We are getting busy after a slow year and my staff are now booked solid for the next several months and I have projects still coming in that I need drafted I cant assign to them.
Therefore, I am looking for someone to help me with drafting of new projects that are coming in. These projects are relatively small basic residential projects like ADU's and small additions. My staff draft using Revit software and I do all my design work with pencil (old school guy). I draft in pencil and hand it over to them to draft in Revit. However, I am interested in training myself on Rhino or Sketchup so I am hoping while working together you can help me learn either Sketchup or Rhine. Therefore, the ideal person knows all three software packages (Revit, Rhino and Sketchup! Revit fluency is required.
My preferred candidate also has a working understanding of wood frame construction. You know what platform framing is and plywood diaphrams are, etc. You know the how to cross hatch a continuous vs discontinous piece of lumber on a detail.
You should also be eager to learn because draft to an unususally high level of development (LOD). If you are fluent in wood frame detailing I can pay you about $10 per hour more.
Preferably you would come into our office and work here with me and the team say 40% of the time. We have two empty workstations and we are in walking distance to WholeFoods on Gilman. The office is gorgeous and full of daylight. You can also work from home full time if that suits you better and check in with me at the office periodically. Therefore you should really live in an easy drive to North Berkeley.
Currently I can probably use 20-30 hours a week of drafting help. I may use multiple people so if you can only work for say 16-24 hours a week and have all the other stuff I am looking for please reach out. This is a gig job vs a part time job as the work fluctuates on a weekly basis due to our need for services and your (the gig worker) availablility. You would also primarily be working from home and need to have a home workstation.
