Original 1910-1920s Antique Daguerre Chicago Photo Children Dancing Fairies Ballet
This Original silver gelatin photo by Daguerre Chicago Studio's is in good condition but has a few spots that are on the bottom girl's leg and a few over to the right in the dark area that you do not see unless you hold it up to the light and at the right angle. There is a minor kink on the bottom by the mat. The photos make them look worse than they are since some of them are scanned and enlarged. Signed lower right Daguerre Chicago
Comes matted and framed in a contemporary frame that is separating a little in two of the corners. The overall size is of the image is 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" and the overall size of the frame is 13 1/2" x 16". All acid-free materials will be added to preserve this wonderful photo.
Chicago's Daguerre Studios began operation in the early 20th century and appears to have specialized in portraits of actors, dancers, and other performers. One of the studio’s photographers, Emily Gallagher, is said to have been the photographer of choice for female performers. Examples of the Daguerre Studio’s portraits appear to be held mainly in American collections, such as the New York Public Library.
