For centuries, the Yixing teapot has enjoyed the reputation among Chinese tea drinkers as being, in the words of one writer, “a superior vessel for tea drinking.” The clay is sourced, blended, and processed into workable material, the yixing craftsman’s precise work can begin. Before the first piece is cut, shaped or smoothed, the artist first designs a piece and calculates the very precise math to make sure everything fits together. Because Yixing has such a long history, each shape and each subtle curve are all evocative of historical forms.

The tea pot measures 4" diameter x 5.5"H, the total length is 7.5" with handle and mouth.
