Rare 1989 Montgomery 17, full keel. This boat needs nothing, except a bath.
Upgraded halyards to dynema
Upgraded halyard blocks
Replaced port lights with new
Replaced weather boards with smokey acrylic or lexan whichever they sell at TAP
Tohatsu 6 hp had a full lower rebuild, new fuel pump and carburetor installed 3 months ago
Sails are still crisp. When I bought it 4 years ago, the jib was still in the manufacturer's packaging. Jib has a down haul on a block.
I dropped my phone in the marina and have lost my photos. I have taken this boat all over the Bay. My personal favorites are sailing up into Tomales and Petaluma, staying there for a couple days but I have also sailed her to:
Angel Island
Treasure Island
Alameda
Oakland for breakfast
Berkeley for the start of the Great Vallejo Race
Sausolito
Around Alcatraz and the slot
Downtown Napa (you can take her up river have a night on the town and crash on the boat. It's like you have your own youtube channel). Done this trip multiple times and even with the Potter Yachters
Tomales has two places you can sail up and eat at.
My daily sailing grounds are in Benicia where I keep the boat for exactly that reason. Great sailing, tides, currents, straits. Get off the boat and I am still in Benica.
Bottom line this is a great little boat for adventure, for learning, and when balanced she is quick! She needs nothing but a slip and an owner that wants to sail and give her attention. I just cleaned the interior. Come to see how clean and well maintained she is.
Being a bigger guy, I appreciate a dry, spacious interior which this boat provides. It has no center board trunk or any cables that allow water into the cabin. This boat does not have a trailer but I have one that would work with the addition of struts. It also has a joint that allows you to fold and reduce the trailer from 19 ft to about 11 ft.
Fair price just need to reduce the fleet down to two...for now. Have title and it is registered.
