I have owned and sailed this vessel to the Gate weekly since 2012 and must sell now due to two hospitalizations.
1. This is a 1978 Catalina (there were 6,435 produced) with the Southern California tall rig (45 foot mast, mainsail luff). Most popular vessel in its class.
2. Haulout in 2011 with anti-fouling paint. (Three (3) new stainless through-hull keel bolts, in addition to existing. There are no leaks. See Cruisers Forum: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f47/catalina-30-smile-260865.html)
3. Haulout again in 2015 with anti-fouling paint and new zincs on the propeller shaft; monthly diver hull cleaning throughout 2024 and new zincs on the shaft; propeller removed to reduce drag; equipped with two external engines (20 HP Mercury w/electric starter, gas, and new 8 HP Hangkai electric).
4. Hull speed: approximately 6.7 knots (velocity in knots = 1.35 times the square root of the waterline length in feet, which is 25), around 7.8 miles per hour; can reach 9.2 knots to windward or beam reach with reefed main and full genoa jib, in 25+ knots of wind.
5. Two sinks with pedal pumps for faucet pressure and delivery.
6. Gauges for engine RPM, charging amperes, wind speed/direction, and hull speed.
7. Topside professionally pressure-washed and treated in 2021, with ongoing maintenance.
8. New 2-speed Harken self-tailing jib winches, main, traveler/spinnaker (sail not included), and anchor windlass. New clutches installed on the starboard coachtop for the main halyard and the 2d reef leech clew pulldown. First and second main reefing systems are easy to operate under sail
9. New 130% Genoa jib, 5-year-old mainsail, spinnaker aluminum pole mounted on starboard lifeline stanchions.
10. Bow lights, steaming light, and new blue or white LED (25,000-hour) overhead spotlights on spreaders; stern green and red lights—all functioning. New backup set of overhead LED's located in forecastle;
11. 12 V DC to 110 AC Fender inverter under the chart table.
Included and Invested in:
1. Edison wheel steering with mounted compass; bow and stern stainless pulpits; safety lines around the entire vessel.
2. Stern Garelick lift mount and 20 HP Mercury outboard with electric starter—extremely dependable; 8 HP Hangkai electric outboard with large 60 Volt lithium battery (both less than a year old), also on stern mount next to Mercury; chargers for each with large gauge extension cord from the left lazarette; starter battery for Mercury and lithium battery housed in the stern lazarette. There is a spare new 12-volt battery on the kitchen floor; an additional Mini Kota 3 1/2 hp electric trolling outboard in the port lazarette. The electric has less than 4 hours on it; the Mercury is in top running condition and is well cared for—new plugs, oil change, filter, etc., and an upgraded high-capacity propeller.
3. Refrigerator.
4. New microwave.
5. Two radios (wall-mounted and handheld-floating).
6. Handheld Garmin GPS.
7. Numerous NOAA Office of Coast Survey charts under the chart table, including the Sacramento River from San Pablo Bay and Delta.

9. Beautiful, well-maintained all-teak interior; exterior gingerbread (cabin rails, washboards, traveler) oiled teak—old varnish removed; no damage or scratches.
10. Seat cushions for the forecastle, saloon (navy blue, excellent condition, tuck and roll), and aft area; sleeps six.
11. Fully operational Furuno Radar system with sender on a 5-foot pole on the starboard rear quadrant.
12. Vacuum, steam cleaner, and electric power washer (1800 PSI).
13. New toilet with new hoses and connections.
14. Two new electric bilge pumps (1450 GPH).
