A spectacular and rare Francesco Galmozzi-made Italian lugged steel race bike from around 1971!
Sold through Lazzaretti, the oldest continuously operating, family-owned bike shop in Rome.
The relationship between Galmozzi and Lazzaretti, which started in the 1930s, has been well-documented by Galmozzi biographer Manuel Dall'Olio and others. Galmozzi is considered one of the handful of great Italian bike makers of the classic Eroica age, alongside others such as Masi, Pogliaghi, and Pela.
This bike appears to be nearly all original. Paint is nearly perfect, with a few small scratches and scraped decals. See photos. Bar tape, saddle, and brake hoods may have been updated at some point, but they are period correct to the build.
IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY AT THE IMAGES OF THE SEAT TUBE, YOU WILL SEE THE FAINT IMPRESSION OF THE GALMOZZI ROOSTER WHICH HE STAMPED ON ALL HIS BIKES. THE FRAME ALSO BEARS THE CLASSIC GALMOZZI HEAD LUGS TREATMENT.
Frame: 57cm ctc, both seat and top tube.

Martano textured tubular rims on Campy Record hubs (stamped 69) with Clement tires (not glued, added later).
