I think it's time to let this shredder go. As I age, I don't find myself riding with the same aggression I once did.
This bike was once my all-time favorite, and remains the one I wish I could ride to its potential. Instead, I usually leave it behind and head for more mellow XC style trails.
This is a fully loaded ride, with the following components:
Canfield Riot frame - size Large, badass black with blue links
Rockshox 140mm Pike
Cane Creek Double Barrel shock
Enve M70 carbon rims and Chris King hubs
Race Face 780mm carbon bars
Carbon cranks
PNW dropper post
SRAM 11 speed drivetrain and Elixer brakes
Here's the AI generated summary of the Riot:
The Canfield Riot was a groundbreaking 2015-2017 model known for its aggressive 29er geometry, short chainstays, and "Canfield Balance Formula" suspension, making it a fun, agile, and capable "one-bike" solution for rowdy trail riding and bike park use. Reviewers lauded its excellent climbing traction, playful and snappy handling, and ability to hold speed through rough terrain, although some noted its short rear end could be challenging on extremely blown-out downhill tracks.
Sounds pretty accurate. The bike rips through local stuff such as Demo, UC and further north like Tamarancho, China Camp and Annadel. In the trips to Downieville and Tahoe it's done just fine, in spite of being "only" 140 mm front and rear. That said, I haven't ridden it at Northstar or Mammoth.
