Up for sale: one ALAN Record lugged aluminum road frame, lovingly restored and in beautiful condition. I'm fairly certain this frame was manufactured in June 1986, based on the "RECORD686" stamped on the seat tube. Very comfortable ride! Sure it would be perfect for Eroica, but it begs to be ridden any day of the week.
No paint to chip, no chrome to pit… just lustrous anodized aircraft-grade aluminum tubing and lugs throughout. Ovalized top-tube for easy portaging, downtube shifter bosses, cable guides for rear brake and rear derailleur. I replaced the original decals with fresh ones from Velocals -- they've since seen a touch of wear but are still in great shape.
Includes Campagnolo C-Record headset, Campagnolo seat binder bolt, and a 118mm Shimano sealed-bearing cartridge bottom bracket. I can also probably provide you with a simple seat post as well (ALANs use a 25.0 diameter seat post, a rather weird size).
ALANs have a storied history, winning "20 World Cyclo cross Championships, 5 World Track Title Championships, numerous classics wins, as well as stage wins in the Tour de France, Giro D’Italia, and Vuelta De Espana", according to ALAN themselves. Jan Heine from Rene Herse races cyclocross on a vintage ALAN himself!
Asking $700, cash only please. This is a pretty middle-of-the-road price for an ALAN frame alone (check eBay), and this one includes a C-Record headset, bottom bracket and seat binder bolt — maybe even a seat post (if I can find it, lol). The only reason I'm letting it go is that I need to thin the pack!
