Scattante r560 lightweight road bike small frame - $600 (berkeley north / hills)

It's got Shimano shifters, fairly new puncture-proof tires for those Oakland streets, grips in decent shape still, SICK high-visibility reflective arrows on the spokes so you look cool and obvious in the dark, even from the side!
I'm 5'2'' and the small frame was amazing, plus how light it is made it really easy to carry up and down stairs.
Bike is in great shape overall, wouldn't even need to do work on it off you didn't want to. I don't commute anymore and don't lived up 3 flights of stairs, so I'm opting for something more upright.
