Custom built tandem by Davidson Cycles in Seattle in 1985. 23x21 "Marathon" style touring frame with full braze-ons for fenders, racks and four water bottles. Fillet brazed lightweight steel Ishiwata tubeset. "Half-step," wide-range touring gearing with Shimano Deore XT derailleurs and bar-end shifting. SBI tandem gruppo includes cranks, pedals, stems and bars. Cinelli 1A stem and Tange G-Master headset. Powerful Deore XT cantilever brakes with available ratchet controlled Arai drum brake on the rear (not pictured). 27 inch hand-built touring rims with 48 double-butted spokes on Phil Wood hubs. Brake braze-ons set to accommodate 27" or 700c wheels. Frame design produces very stable yet responsive handling...it really carves the corners. Fenders and pump painted to match, all in Dupont Imron dark rose metallic. Hard to part with this terrific tandem but it needs to be in a home that will use it for touring and fast centuries. A really classic, fun bike built by one of the best custom builders. You will want to repack both bottom brackets. It needs new gum brake hoods but otherwise is gorgeous. New tires and tubes would be a good idea. Seats not included. Serious inquiries only. Must be able to take local delivery.
