A timeless classic: "The" 13.4 by David Clark. The most iconic general aviation headset ever made and it is still in production today, while most of other headsets of that era were long discontinued. It was my first "real" headset when I got my private license in 1997 and I still have that original one (not the headset I'm selling here). I still use it alongside with Bose A20 (depending on aircraft).
I found DC 13.4 being actually more comfortable than Bose, with more sensitive microphone. Bose (and all other active-noise-cancellation headsets) cut off mostly low-end rumble (engine roar), but most of hearing damage is caused by high frequencies where both Bose and DC have about the same noise reduction numbers. Besides, you need to hear the engine well, especially in a critical phases of flight like takeoff: abnormal sound may indicate a problem, and it's better to cancel or abort the takeoff and deal with it on the ground.
You are welcome to test it against Bose, I have both.
As a side note, a DPE at my last three checkrides used the very same H10-13.4 headset and he's an airline captain who can afford any headset ever made (and certainly tried many of them during his career).
David Clark headsets are literally indestructible, and company really stands behind its products.

I can meet you at Hayward airport or anywhere in the central Bay Area or Dublin-Livermore. I have a portable intercom to test it, or you can hook it up to a handheld radio and talk to the tower if near airport.
Selling it only because I accumulated about 12 of them over the years and I don't need that many. All are in new or near-new condition, all work fine and can be tested. If you need more than one, you are welcome to grab more.
Pilot stores and Amazon have this headset at around $330-$360, plus tax and shipping, of course, so you can get mine for barely half of the store price in the same new condition. Save some money for flight training!
