Antique Legacy Stained-glass Windows from Playland, SF Landmark
Offered here are 38 Antique Windows from SF Landmark’s Playland Carousel legacy building, the Looff Hippodrome, built about 1913.
Arthur Looff leased a piece of land near the Sutro Baths for the Looff Carousel and its house the Looff Hippodrome, which contained the brightly-colored windows high up in its outside walls. (The Carousel is currently located in Yerba Buena Park.)
Most of the 38 windows are in alright shape for their age, though some are missing one or more of small panes – in pretty good shaped for being 112 years old. Many have missing putty, a few have wood decay or salvage-removal scars, but none are beyond repair.
These wonderful windows are ~27 x ~28, stained-glass borders included.
The center clear panes are 21” x 20”
The stained-glass surrounding panes are 8” x 3.75” & 3.625” x 3.75”
The complete framed windows are ~34” x ~34”

From Wiki: Playland was a 10-acre seaside amusement park located next to Ocean Beach, in the Richmond District along Great Highway on the West Side of San Francisco. The amusement park was bounded by Balboa & Fulton streets.
Begun as a collection of amusement rides & concessions in the late 19th century, it was initially called Chutes-at-the-Beach (opened in 1921) & the name was changed to ‘Playland’ in 1926.
Playland-by-the-Beach closed Labor Day weekend in 1972.
