Antique French Print Blocks, for hand-printing fabric patterns $45 to $125
These are French hand-carved printing blocks, used on printed fabrics in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Various floral and geometric patterns.
Paper notice pasted to the back of one block, indicating that the blocks were imported for Robinson’s department store sometime in the early-to-mid 1960s:
“Be the first to discover print blocks…collected by Robinson’s from the House of Bianchini Ferier. Inspired by the design of Dufy, Bonfils, Laurent and Charlemagne, these hand-carved blocks were used to hand-print elegant fashion fabrics in Lyons, France thirty-five to 100 years ago. Each an original, each hand-selected!”
