I have a number of Antique Colonial Spanish Bronze Stirrups, made in the 1800s: $85 each. Not sold in pairs.
They are a type of armor, rather than being just loops into which you put your boot - they cover the entire front of the boot, and are decorate with interesting fillips, adornments and often engraved legends.
First three pics, the stirrup is modeled on a man's Dutch shoe (with extended toe).
Next four pics, the stirrup is shaped like a box-toe boot.
Last pic (of two stirrups), stirrup is engraved with a legend & date from 1800s.
There is quite a history of Spanish manufacturing in the New World, using metals mined by the Spanish colonists - and these are a part of the history of Central & South America.
Wonderfully artistic pieces that will spark conversations & intrigue your guests.
