Gorgeous, grain forward, Mahogany, in the best of 50’s Mid-Century Modern, clean lines, and simply sophisticated design, executed by master craftsmen, in the USA.
Stamp branded in the interior top drawer.
History-
As part of Hooker Furniture’s ‘Mainline’ series, originally finished in a cream white, that, due to age and sunlight exposure, had yellowed, beyond restoring to its original condition.
Refinishing Work-
Frame and case was in excellent condition, requiring only a few areas needing re-gluing. Along with a few drawer dovetail joints.
After sanding off the top and color coats, down to 220grit, I went with linen white, milk paint. Once dry, a second round of sanding, in order to expose some of the grain pattern and prior finish peeking through.
I decided to go with a matte navy blue for the outer drawers, and continue the distressed white, through the middle, for separation and definition.
Top coat is a Polycrylic semigloss for the case and matte for the blue drawers.
The soft brushed, silver hardware, is all original.
Condition: 10/10; Vintage/Refinished; this one is perfect! I even applied a warm, hand rubbed, polyurethane finish to the drawer interiors, to prevent splinters and snags to clothings and makes cleaning a breeze.
