64 piece (8 place setting) Gorham Fairfax antique sterling silverware set for 8 places in the original flatware box + 4 sterling serving utensils, 2 which are antique hand wrought sterling Kalo 16 made in Chicato.
The classic and timeless Fairfax design was introduced in 1910 by Gorham, an American luxury flatware company.
MONOGRAM W - perfect for a gift for someone or a business with a W name ... like a hotel for example?
WEIGHT: The silverware weighs 2649 grams / 95 oz / nearly 6 pounds
(note: the blades of the dinner knives are stainless steel).
The flatware set totals 68 pieces - service for 8 guests - and includes:
8 Sterling silver Dinner forks
8 Sterling silver Salad forks
8 Sterling silver Seafood cocktail forks
8 Sterling silver Dinner knives with stainless blades
8 Sterling silver Butter knives / spreaders - 1 is slightly smaller than the other 7 with different markings which I had trouble reading
8 Sterling silver spoons
8 Sterling silver Soup spoons
8 Sterling silver pointed spoons (not serrated) - perhaps used as grapefruit spoons ?
The 4 sterling silver serving utensils include 2 from the early 1900s made in Chicago by the famous Kalo silversmiths shop:
1) Pasty server 9" approx. 71 grams labeled Hand wrought sterling Kalo 16 - highly collectible!!
2) Serving fork with 3 pierced holes 9" approx. 82 grams labeled Hand wrought sterling Kalo 16
3) Gorham Fairfax serving fork 8.5" approx. 77 grams labeled Gorham sterling PAT.
4) Gorham Fairfax Serving spoon 8.5" approx. 84 Gorham sterling PAT
Also includes a silver plated dinner fork from the Dorset Hotel in New York labeled: International & Co XII; The Dorset 30 West 54th Street NY - imagine how that fork got in there! :)
CASE: reads Prevent Tarnish Pamilla Silver Cloth Made Exclusively For The Gorham Company Providence, RI by Pacific Mills Patents 1755546 & 2003333 (I may have read those numbers wrong :) - see photo
Case condition: Zipper is pulling away from the felt case. It also snaps closed.
