Striking pair of large Eastern & Western Hemisphere world map prints inspired by the classic 19th-century Tallis & Rapkin designs. Richly detailed cartography with ornate illustrated borders featuring animals and historical figures.
Set of 2 antique engraved maps of Western hemisphere and Eastern hemisphere, by John Tallis (1817-1876).
Each map is decorated with 12 small vignettes all around, as animals, indigenous, soldiers, etc...
On the Eastern hemisphere, the mail route is coloured in blue.
The map has been drawn & engraved by J. Rapkin, the illustrations drawn by H. Warren & engraved by J. Rogers.
