Originally built in 1925 as the Exchange Linen Service, the building was reimagined as Exchange Studios in 1994. Neighborhood History – Jingletown, Oakland
Originally part of the San Antonio settlement founded in 1851, Jingletown took its name from Portuguese mill workers who would “jingle” their week’s earnings in their pockets along the Estuary.
