The unit has been very recently updated with fresh wall and cabinet paint, and wallpaper in the entry space. Other recent updates include washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, gas fireplace, lighting fixtures, and downstairs/upstairs vanities and sinks (upstairs has a trough sink with two faucets to mimic a double sink).
The downstairs floors are bamboo and the stairs and upstairs are low pile carpet.
The kitchen is great size and has ample counter space for prepping food and cooking, as well as entertaining guests. It's central to the unit and allows views to much of the living space, as well as views outside the large windows.
Upstairs, the loft-style bedroom is an airy retreat w/ room for large furnishings plus a lounge or workspace. There are two skylights that provide excellent natural light, and the ensuite bathroom has the aforementioned double sink with a custom vanity. If you have the shades at the top of the large windows pulled up, you can see a view of downtown Oakland from upstairs.
There is a good-sized patio that faces the quieter side street, with the top of a lovely tree poking right above the patio wall, which provides nice privacy. The east-facing view provides views of the Oakland hills, while the west-facing view provides a peek-a-boo view of San Francisco. If you have a a dog or a cat, the patio is a wonderful, safe outdoor space for them to hang out.
The location is centrally located near Bay Street shops, restaurants, bars/breweries, Target and Home Depot, w/ easy access to Bay Bridge, 80, 580, 24 + 880. In a 5-10 minute drive, you can pretty much get to any freeway, as well as downtown Oakland, Lake Merritt, Berkeley and Piedmont.
Water and garbage removal are paid by owner. Tenant is responsible for PG&E and internet. Maximum of two pets.
No smoking inside the unit. Smoking outside on the patio is OK.
There is a tandem space in the garage under the units that fits two vehicles.
Initial lease agreement is one year and will then go month to month after that. Final month's rent is due at time of signing the lease. Timing of that payment can be negotiable if necessary.
