If you are going to spec, then do it only for your own work. If a so-called producer tries to get you to write something free, don't do it. If someone has a 'great idea' and wants you to turn it into a screenplay on spec, don't. Counter such requests with a work-for-hire contract. A real professional will understand. A fake professional won't.

Remember that the gift of writing, and the work you put into exercising that gift, has great value.

I am looking for someone to take on some of the load in a translation job I'm about to start. The project is a 900 page technical manual/document for a client in Israel in the Electronics industry. Translation would be from Hebrew to English. You must be fluent in both. Previous transalation experience is not required but would be helpfull, the same goes for a technical background. You can commit to any number of pages although the more of them you agree to do the more likely it would be that I would take you on as I don't particularly relish having to find someone new every two weeks.

Position Description:
The Apollo Alliance is seeking a smart, organized, energetic person with strong research and writing skills to assist with our program and policy department. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a talented student or professional committed to clean energy and social equity issues to gain experience working in a high caliber, fast paced, results-oriented non-profit policy organization.

Then, he says he won't pay unless another article is written--and another, telling the writers just to write it as a favor and not to be "greedy." Eventually, the writers have to quit. In response, he sends a barrage of rude e-mails, and says that he will not pay.

He seems to consider himself better than his writers--despite his inadequate grasp of his native language--because he bleeds them dry. He posts in many places, including Youtube, about how stupid his writers are because he can get them to write for free. He considers himself to be some type of businessman; it's all just a power trip. Well, that's right; anyone is stupid if s/he works for this guy.

We are developing a large US state-based information product with some 100+ data nodes. Think everything anyone might want to know about a US state: history, government, climate and weather, demographics, public and private schools, parks, environment, notables, maps, photos, and more. Students, teachers, administrators and others will use the content for school reports, relocation evaluation, research, etc.

We need someone who is first and foremost a professional writer and second, in possession of significant experience or connection to religious topics. For example: a professional writer with a degree in theology, or a professional writer who is or was a minister or priest. Please note our emphasis on �professional� writer. Writing sermons for 20 years does not necessarily make you a professional writer.

The job is to write 56 articles of 1800 to 2000 words on a series of topics related to religion in each individual US state and territory. Topics include religious history of the state, religious movements started or developed in the state, current religious composition of the state, and religion in public life in the state. We have a project specification sheet, a comprehensive outline and some source material to work from. If you have a religious axe to grind or are intolerant of other religious beliefs, this is not right job for you.

We pay by the word. At the moment we can pay $0.06 per word for virtually 98% ready to go copy (requiring only a brief copy edit), or $0.05 per word for editorial that requires a medium copy edit. This works out to about $110 to 120 per article. Also, we need to get at least three articles a week. We�re open to having two people work on the project.

Resources who have a Newspaper or Journalism background geared towards external audiences on topics that are in line with feature stories that that the company would normally be associated with; Political, energy, etc. Resources who have a background in fashion or food will not be a good fit.

Technical writer's will not be a good fit for this role. In fact, the department has contract writers who are familiar with the company "Style" of writing for the majority of the publications. Also, there will not be a technical audience and content will be geared towards an EXTERNAL audience. We are looking for an Associate Editor.

Web/TV Journalists are not a good fit for this role; They mostly work with digital media such as sound bytes, etc and may lack in written communication skills.
