Last year was our first year doing the event and we had 4 groups go out caroling and raised just shy of $2000 which went to various local charities. It was a magical experience seeing people’s faces light up as we came caroling along their neighborhoods. We received a lot of love as well as requests to make this a yearly event. We are determined to build off last year and grow in size so that we may bring the joy of caroling to many areas and in turn gather much needed donations for people less fortunate than we currently may be.

Another possibility to consider is to have your business sponsor a group of employees and they could maybe wear some sort of company logo (hat, sweatshirt etc.) as they go out caroling. We could also have groups compete to see who could raise the most donations if you are so inclined. While whole groups (schools, business, churches) are encouraged most of our volunteers are individuals which we place together in a group which as it turns out, is a great way to meet amazing people such as yourself!
Once we get an idea of the scope of volunteers we can start planning more details during the next two weeks.

We are looking for individuals interested in volunteering at either our Westfield Centre location (dress code in effect at this location) or at our flagship store at 518A Castro Street. We get a lot of items donated to us that we desperately need. Unfortunately we’re not able to pick them all up. The items come from the entire Bay Area and we don’t have the resources to travel from the North Bay to get everything that’s being offered to us.
Do you have a pickup, truck or a car with a trailer? Are you looking to volunteer some of your time? We’re hoping to round up some volunteers from around the Bay Area with hopes that they can retrieve these donations and bring them to us. Whether it’s once a month or a one time shot, anything would be greatly appreciated and the item’s you pickup would be put to good use. It also keeps more things out of the landfills.
Sometimes we loose items because people can’t hang onto them until we can arrange pickups. For anyone that has space, would you be able to pick up items close to you and store them until you can get them to us?

The volunteer project will take place close to the city of Hat Yai, in the Songhkla province (Southern Thailand). Volunteers have contributed to the activities of several schools in the neighbourhood since 1998, particularly by holding lessons and activities in English for the children. The project this year is a continuation of these efforts. The volunteers will run English workshops, games and educative activities in English with the kids of several primary schools in the surroundings, using non-formal education techniques. Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to non-formal education techniques, intercultural learning and group dynamics in general, and in how it is specifically practiced in Thai schools. - Bereavement Volunteers provide services for the family and friends for up to 13 months following the death of the loved one. At Aseracare Hospice our care does not stop with the patient. Grief is a normal reaction to the loss of a loved one, and this is a very difficult time for the survivors. Bereavement Volunteers are needed to assist family members after the death of a loved one for emotional support purposes.
We are also looking for volunteers in other areas:
- Office Assistant Volunteers are needed to assist the staff, volunteer coordinator, bereavement coordinator, social worker, administration support team, medical records, and other staff. Office Assistant Volunteers share their talents by working in the business office-making copies, filing, sorting, etc.
- Public speakers make presentations to clubs, churches and other organizations on numerous topics related to terminal illness, grief, death and dying as part of the Speaker's Bureau.

Ms. Abraham is looking for volunteers for her study. Volunteers must be:
- Men who are at least 18 years old
- English speaking
- Fathers with a child between the ages of 6 months and 6 years old
- In a relationship with a female partner that has experienced postpartum depression. It is not necessary to be living with your partner.
Volunteers will be asked to meet with Ms. Abraham in a location that is mutually agreed upon, and talk about their experiences. Interviews will last no longer then 90 minutes and volunteers will meet with Ms. Abraham no more then twice. Volunteers will receive $20 in payment per interview, maximum payment is $40, for involvement in the study.
The study is completely voluntary and you have the right to not take part and can also leave the study at any time.

It takes most women less than 10 minutes to complete this simple point-and-click survey. There is no compensation offered for completing the survey, however, your time and effort will contribute to answering important questions about individuals in society.
This study will evaluate the effects of Nattokinase on blood levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP)—a marker of inflammation strongly associated with cardiovascular disease—in individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease. It involves having blood drawn at baseline, taking one dose of Nattokinase, then having blood drawn again at 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours after ingestion of the Nattokinase. The blood collected will then be tested for CRP.
Participants will receive all study supplements and testing performed at no cost, and will be compensated $100 for the entire study. CRP results will be provided to participants upon request.

Have at least 3 of the following risk factors for Cardiovascular Disease
- High Blood Pressure
- High Cholesterol
- Overweight
- Family history of heart disease
- Physically inactive
- Current smoker
- Male/Post-Menopausal Female
Be Age 18-65
Speak English fluently
Not currently be taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, fish oil, anti-coagulants, anti-platelet drugs, or anti-histamines

The SOS Children's Village is situated in the centre of Viet Tri City, the capital of Phu Tho Province. There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 family houses under the care of the village mothers and staff.
The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam. Volunteers will spend time with the children and help improving their English, organizing games and other activities for them. They will also help redecorating the houses and classrooms, planting vegetable, cleaning the area. International group of volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children and encourage them to learn better for brighter future.

What to help ccreate a more sustainable life, region and planet?
Of course you do, but how can you help?
Sustainable San Mateo County is partnering with, Sustainable Spaces, (an energy audit firm) to have a series of Home Energy Efficiency Parties. We need hosts to offer their home for an energy efficiency audit and then host a party of friends and associates to talk about all the health, comfort and energy saving ideas they could put to use. It’s a cool, exciting and very unique idea.
What could you do....How can you help?
We’re looking for volunteers who can make simple presentations to groups of people with the goal of homeowners committing to host a “Home Energy Efficiency House Party”. Then, help them plan and facilitate the party…….with training and help from both Sustainable San Mateo County and Sustainable Spaces.
This opportunity is great for both individuals or teams of two or more. The geographic area is San Mateo County.

Participation involves brief screening visit and if eligible ONE DAY study visit that includes: brief secondhand smoke exposure, blood draws/IV placement and ultrasound of your arm at San Francisco General Hospital
USTA will have a vendor booth in the exhibit area for the entire day. Volunteer shifts will be in increments of four hours each and two volunteers are needed per shift. Tennis experience is not necessary. Volunteers will be asked to greet people, hand out prizes and help staff the booth and will be trained on site. Shifts are:
7:30 am - 11:30 am
11:30 am - 3:30 pm
3:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Volunteers will be provided a USTA Community Volunteer Tshirt, snacks and soft drinks throughout the day.

Instituto Laboral de la Raza is a nonprofit workers resource center. We provide legal services, peer counseling, financial education and access to a network of services for the working poor.
We are often described as a kind of social emergency room. We serve very poor, very hard working people and the families that they support. We have been serving our community for over 27 years from our headquarters in the Mission District of San Francisco. Experience Corps, an innovative non-profit national organization, has immediate openings for tutors and mentors in four San Rafael elementary schools. One-on-one opportunities are available to assist children with literature and math, both in the classroom or during after school sessions.
“Experience Corps puts a growing national resource, experienced Americans, to work on a pressing national need – giving all students the reading skills they need to succeed,” said Lester Strong, the program’s CEO. “There’s no shortage of older adults – nearly 10,000 Americans turn 60 every day – and no shortage of kids who need help. Half of our urban students never graduate from high school. We could be doing so much more to put these two generations together.”
Experience Corps' 'win-win' model benefits both students and tutors: a Washington University study determined that students working with Experience Corps tutors averaged over 60 percent more progress in learning in critical reading skills than similar students not served by the program; and recent Johns Hopkins University research found that Experience Corps volunteers exhibit significant benefits in cognitive abilities, physical activities, and strength; 85 percent of volunteers said their lives had improved because of their involvement with Experience Corps.
