This is an on-call, part time position with all drivers working as independent contractors. TERMINAL DISPATCHER

A Terminal Dispatcher coordinates the movements of buses, shuttle buses, limousines and other vehicles entering and leaving the terminal. Terminal dispatchers assign chauffeurs to vehicles and make sure they have the correct client information for their assigned ride. Terminal dispatchers also assign chauffeurs to buses and ensure that the buses move out of the terminals on schedule.

Terminal Dispatchers stay in touch with chauffeurs on the road, communicating by phone or two-way radio. Dispatchers answer chauffeurs ' questions and solve problems. For example, they may tell chauffeurs which routes to take to avoid traffic jams. Progress of chauffeurs along their routes is charted through an online system in the dispatch office. Dispatchers are required to keep the online system up to date.

When vehicles return to terminals, dispatchers check them in and handle their trip records. Dispatchers may also handle customers' requests and complaints.

Education and Training Requirements:
Dispatchers usually have high school diplomas or the equivalent. Dispatchers must have area knowledge.

Working Conditions:
Dispatchers must work well under pressure and be able to respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently. However, in emergencies or when the workload is particularly heavy, dispatchers may be expected to put in extra hours.

The Operations/Dispatch manager is responsible for a staff of approximately 120 personnel including all chauffeurs and dispatchers.

The Operations/Dispatch Manager reports directly to the Executive Vice President.

Monitoring of and stocking of all vehicles. Complete knowledge and enforcement of all company policies and procedures is required and mandatory dictation of, adherence to and following of each procedure is required.

A clear knowledge of the entire bay area.

Familiarity of the entire fleet with a thorough knowledge of all functions of all vehicles is a must.

The Operations/Dispatch Manager must be able to use the reservation system to make reservations, and have a strong knowledge of the sales techniques. Log, critique and govern incoming contracts from sales.

Scheduling maximum hours in every vehicle for present and future reservations will be required to achieve the maximum amount of revenue for the company, always compressing runs on busy days and 30 days out.

Monitoring of runs throughout the day, ensure chauffeurs arrive in proper time for their runs, and enforce the use of radio codes when the chauffeurs are on the road. Chauffeurs must check in with dispatch when they arrive to ensure they arrive to work on time, as well as when they arrive to the pick up and drop off locations.

Covering all new reservations in vehicles that are already on the road is the ultimate method of utilizing a vehicle to ensure a higher profit margin from each vehicle.

Monitoring the cleanliness and required dress of chauffeurs.

The individual in this position must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
