I graduated from college in New York back in June with a degree in ship design and spent most of the summer sailing on the Chesapeake Bay near my home with a bunch of friends. That was great, actually fantastic, but eventually I needed money and so I started looking for a job. Ship design on the east coast is limited to navy stuff which doesn't really excite me, so I moved to the west coast and now I'm here in the East Bay and loving what I do. Unfortunately, I don't know anybody around here at all. I'm a very social guy and so having no friends close by for the past two-ish weeks has been pretty rough. I like to do pretty much everything, especially if I haven't tried it yet. I love traveling. I've been to the Bahamas, Germany, Egypt, Costa Rica, South Africa, Australia, and even Antarctica. I like cats..., photography, being outdoors, meeting new people, learning, making people laugh, drinking (sometimes a lot...I like to pretend I'm still in college), driving around playing music that's way more hardcore than I am, exploring places I've never been before, and just generally having a good time. And I love having friends to share all that stuff with.

So, this isn't really typical of the other posts in this section, but I think I'm being clear. I'm not necessarily looking for a long term relationship. I'm actually not even necessarily looking for a relationship. I'm looking for friendship. If you're reading posts on CraigsList because you know you want more than that then I'm sorry you read this far! It would be great if some cool, cute girl reads this post and we wind up having a drink (or as many drinks as we want) and getting to know each other some night. Or maybe the cool, cute girl will just take pity on me and take me on a tour of the city or to see the Golden Gate Bridge (I still haven't gotten over there yet). Or maybe we'll just see a movie at the sweet looking Alameda theater on Park Street and you'll decide you never want to sit next to me in silence again. As Casper says, "All I want's a friend." So, I promise I'm a fun, genuine, and honest guy. I look alright too. I'm 5'-9", pretty average build, white, and oh yea...I love to wear the coolest clothes I can find at second-hand stores and vintage shops. Like right now I'm wearing the sweetest sweater to ever survive the 70s. Sometimes I have an afro and a sweet beard, sometimes (like now) I have a short "professional" haircut and no beard. I change my mind all the time based on what I think is cool.

Ok, I prefer a celibate or gay male, but str8 can work if you put it in perspective....I have a nice , cozy, comfy 3 bedroom duplex in the East Bay, I have a room mate but just had to put my Mom in a skilled nursing facility.....and in order to keep her there comfortably and happy I need another small income coming in temporarily...I don't have another whole room to rent, but I am willling to share my room with someone...hence asking for celibate or gay first...but a str8 man in need of a cheap place to saty and wanting to make a new best friend will work too....what I have to offer is:

If you have the same feelings, we might go have a drink, at least a cup of coffee or something, get to know each other and go from there. About you...fundamentaly you must be better than just a good person, healthy (that means you are not flabby and unkept), do more than just one form of exercise, are able to keep yourself in a happy space (often), are interesting (maybe you read a lot), like the outdoors (love would be better), don't mind getting your hands dirty, know how to handle money (your own), are a good family person and love animals (maybe even the country)............................then we may have some common ground.

A picture is not a requirement but , honestly if you do, maybe you'd feel better after some dialogue first. I'm a pretty chill and laid back guy. I enjoy a wide range of different things but I really like to meet new people. I like to read comedies; the last book I read was Men Who Stare at Goats. I can be happy going to a dive bar, jazz club, theater, walks in a park, going to see live music and all that good stuff. I love to travel and I like producing short funny videos for the web. I have a few video competitions I'm working on right now. I have lots of friends, but I find that get along with creative people who have an open mind. I've been a caretaker for an elderly man for the past two years and since I'm only working for him on a part time basis I've decided to expand by putting a sexy/fun, 19th century twist for my future clients.
