Either these people are remarkably stupid, or the whole thing is some sort of translation F-up. Referring to applicants as "resources" is particularly asinine.

Resources who have a Newspaper or Journalism background geared towards external audiences on topics that are in line with feature stories that that the company would normally be associated with; Political, energy, etc. Resources who have a background in fashion or food will not be a good fit.

Technical writer's will not be a good fit for this role. In fact, the department has contract writers who are familiar with the company "Style" of writing for the majority of the publications. Also, there will not be a technical audience and content will be geared towards an EXTERNAL audience. We are looking for an Associate Editor.


Web/TV Journalists are not a good fit for this role; They mostly work with digital media such as sound bytes, etc and may lack in written communication skills.

The resource should have full print writing/publications background who are familiar with:

Since this is an Associate Editor position, the resumes appearance and content will be fully scrutinized.
Overview of Position: The Associate Editor manages content for the company’s global corporate web site, and other external interactive communications as assigned. The Associate Editor provides work direction to the interactive communications coordinator and contract writers as necessary. Strong coordination with the external and internal communications teams, brand and reputation team, and web team required.


Key Job Responsibilities (essential position functions):

· Work with the Interactive Communications Manager, External Communications Manager and Corporate Marketing Manager to develop feature stories and communications that advance Chevron’s reputation.

· Editorial oversight and advancement and related micro-sites – includes developing editorial calendar, agenda, content assignments, copy editing, approval and clearance, and feedback.

· Develop and own the editorial standards and guidelines for external interactive communications, related micro sites, and all other global external web sites.

· Work on special assignments as needed that require writing, editing and editorial oversight for external audiences.

· Provide editorial advice and direction to business units with communications needs and other external business units’ web sites.

· Maintain editorial style guide and content strategy documents for company web site.

· Manage contract writers.


Qualifications:

- Experience in generating and managing content for a "destination site" with engaging content and interactive community elements is a must.

- Track record for building a large online audience.

- Proven ability to strategize, manage and develop content for the web and rich media that enhances a company's brand and reputation.

- Ability to prioritize writing and editorial resources and coordinate schedules, budgets and staffing needs.

- Knowledge of AP style and principles of "writing for the Web/rich media."

- Experience providing communications and editorial advice/direction in a large multi-national organization is desired, but not mandatory.

- Previous experience working with interactive marketing agencies and advertising agencies is desired, but not mandatory.

- Experience in the energy industry or extractive industry is a plus.
