MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Olivia is currently seeking a Web Interface Designer. You will design HTML for web-based applications and email, evaluating visual human interfaces utilizing user-centered design principles. You will work with the Olivia Marketing team to build web applications and data flow using Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Microsoft components (ASPX). You will determine the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and arrange layouts based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts. You will develop creative graphic elements and optimize them for web and email use. You will prepare and send email for marketing purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts and 7+ years experience as a web designer, or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent samples that demonstrate creative work for major clients.
• Knowledge and experience working with the LGBT community is a plus
• Hands on experience with W3C standards compliant front-end development/scripting (XHTML, XML, XSL, XSLT, Javascript, DOM, CSS, ASPX, C#, AJAX and 3rd Party AJAX controls)
• Working knowledge of version control software such as Perforce, CVS, Subversion, etc.
• Solid interaction and visual design skills.
• Expert skills in graphic applications (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.)
• Familiar with platform/browser compatibility, basic usability issues, and information architecture practices.
• Experience using an email marketing tool such as Responsys, Cheetahmail or Harte-Hanks Postfuture.
• Familiarity with email marketing best practices and issues related to email rendering in multiple mail readers (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo mail, etc).
• Basic understanding of database concepts and proven ability to provide basic integration between web applications and back-end databases, such as that of a CRM system.
• Experience integrating 3rd party reporting tools and analyzing usage data
• Superb attention to detail.
• Energy, enthusiasm, initiative, and strong creativity.
• Comfortable communicating and defending all design decisions
• Resourcefulness, excellent research skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are essential.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks and deliverable/deadlines.
• Ability to identify and resolve interdependencies between different web pages and different applications.
