Saturday 11/14 at noon at Home on Market across from
Safeway in San Francisco. If you can't rsvp in time, just
stop by and ask for the adyke group or look for us in the
patio area.

Currently there are 1,481 adykes, with new members
joining all the time.

The adyke list is fairly light reading, most are invitations
from adykes asking other lesbians to join them for some
event. In our first four years we have done many things
together, such as: movies, dinners, ski trips, kayaking,
singing, vegetarian dinners, rock climbing, hiking, crafts,
salsa, performing, holiday events, monthly brunches,
theatre, opera, country western dancing, camping,
book clubs, pilates, coffee klatches, creative writing
workshops, theatre, travel groups (some trips include
Africa and France), writing workshops, hip hop, poetry
writing, bowling, political activity for marriage equality and
other issues, dancing, clubing, concerts, played pool
(some hot shots too!), grief groups, aimlessly wandering,
volunteering, picnics, the Dyke March, Sistah Steppin March,
speed dating, various performances, marches and rallies, golfing
group, tennis, playwrights festival, BBQ's, dog walks, sang,
dance performances, grieving, shopping, jammed, Stern Grove
Festival in SF, Fabulosa in Guerneville, Russian River Women's
Week, Delicious, Canela, Las Vegas trips, cooking and best of
all making new friends and even some BFF's....

Though some members may invite others to join them for
an expensive activity, we do try to have most adyke
activities be financially accessible. We also try to
be accessible to differently abled lesbians (such as
myself).

The monthly brunch for lesbians at La Pena is happening on
the 4th Sunday of each month at noon, La Pena is at 3105
Shattuck in the East Bay near the Ashby BART at noon.
Be sure to come on time, or the wait for your food can
take some time. rsvp's are preferred, but drop-ins are allowed.
So come join us for a good time! We often have singles stickers
and singles tables.

On the 2nd Saturday of each month we have another brunch
for lesbians in San Francisco at Home on Market at Church
across from Safeway, also at noon. This is right at the
Church MUNI Station. rsvp's are preferred, but drop-ins
are allowed. We have begun exploring different location options
for our monthly SF event, so staye tuned and send in your
suggestions! We will not move to a new location without notice!

Some of us go to the Canela dance the first Saturday of
every other month, more or less, in SF at the Flower Market Cafe.
Our special events include monthly brunches, Holiday Dinner,
Halloween Party, and a Valentine Brunch. We also have a
picnic before the Dyke March and this year will be celebrating
our 4th anniversary!

Members post their invitation ideas to the list daily, providing us
with endless opportunities to meet one another and have a good
time. This membership involvement is the heart of adyke.
List membership is free.

Many of our members are single, but we also have many
couples in adyke. Though having friends and community
is one of the best ways to have dating opportunities,
the purpose of adyke is to build community and is not
based on relationship status.

Most of our members are in the immediate Bay Area, but
we have members as far away as Clear Lake, Mendocino,
Santa Cruz, Paso Robles and Modesto. At this time,
we only have events closer to the Bay, but we can
offer you support if you want to activate your area.
We understand how easy it is to become isolated as
we grow older and we have found adyke has given us
a workable alternative.

There is no such thing as too old on this list. Part
of our mission is to remove the stigmas, both internal
and external, associated with age. The primary focus
of adyke is to post personal invitations to other
adykes. It is not an announcement list.

adyke is a list created to address issues of aging
among lesbians and we hope to get our non-profit
status soon.

We now have 2 sister lists: adyke2 or adyke deux,
that is for all queer women over 40, and Babadyke for
queer women less than 40 years of age.

My main research question is: What role(s) does alcohol and gay clubs/bars play in the LGBT community? Sadly, this is just a quarter-long project, so I had to narrow down the demographic to my study.
With that, I am looking for women who self- identified as lesbians, between the age of 21 and 30, do attend clubs/ bars (doesn’t have to be on a regular basis). I live in Santa Cruz area, and will be traveling to the bay area every weekend to conduct interviews.
