We are designing the next generation of web-based energy monitoring, analysis, and management tools using both Microsoft and open-source technologies.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Working in a team led by a Senior Software Engineer, you will help develop critical applications related to solar power generation and service. Our needs include individuals with aptitude for data-intensive server applications, data warehousing, financial applications, user interface design, and embedded systems programming. A math or technical background coupled with software development and database skills is ideal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write computer software based on the design and mentorship of a team leader and senior developers.
• Evaluate software designs and identify individual tasks, providing implementation time estimates.
• Write and maintain unit tests for your own modules.
• Fix defects in your own modules.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to a software team leader. The team leader or a senior developer will be appointed as a mentor for the applicant. As a member of the team, this position will interact most heavily with senior developers, and to a lesser extent with product management, the QA team, and support personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Specific qualifications include the following:
• Intelligence, strong technical intuition, willingness to learn, and a demonstrable diligence in all tasks
• Knowledge of at lest two programming and/or scripting languages
• Basic understanding of relational database concepts
• 2-4 years of academic and/or professional experience in software development. Qualified entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a team-friendly personality.
• BS in Computer Science or related field.
The ideal candidate will also meet the following requirements:
• Experience with one or more of Microsoft products: C#; ASP.NET’ ADO.NET; LINQ; WCF; MS SQL Server, Reporting Services, Integration Services, etc.
• Experience with writing unit tests or, better still, test-driven development.
• Enthusiasm for the business of green technologies and solar electricity.
• Understanding of software development best practices.
• A commitment to providing superlative service, both within SunEdison and to its customers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based in San Francisco, CA. SunEdison’s San Francisco office is located in the heart of the Financial District, within easy walking distance to BART and Muni.
