Demandforce Senior Core Java Engineer – Communications

Founded in 2003, Demandforce is a profitable software-as-a-service (SaaS) start-up in the emerging, and increasingly important, category of Customer Demand Management (CDM). Our software platform is used by nearly 2,000 small to medium sized businesses to create demand for their products and services through a revolutionary communication, online reputation management, and analytics platform. Demandforce has achieved 14 quarters of over 80% year-over-year quarterly growth and is expected to triple in size over the next 18-24 months.
The Opportunity
Demandforce is looking for an outstanding individual to join the engineering team, reporting directly to the CTO. The position will work from the San Francisco office; a true startup facility with a motivated team getting results and having fun!
This position is a senior role and will oversee all aspects of our core communications platform including text messaging and email services. Responsibilities include:
Become a leader for our communications platform and extend its reach into small businesses
Developing and maintaining java code to schedule all communications in mysql server; code focus is on high throughput and scale with millions of messages a month.
Bring to market new scheduled communications types in multiple industry segments
Developing and maintaining java code for the outbound relay of communications for email servers and text message gateways.
Developing and maintaining java code for the inbound receipt of email and text messages on our servers.
Enhance our core monitoring applications
Work with ReturnPath to maintain our high compliance and deliverability standards
Oversee offshore development resources to assist in development under this positions area of responsibility
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess many of the following qualities:
Demonstrated minimum of 5 years hands on coding experience
Proficient in Java, JavaScript, JSP, HTML, XML and SQL
Solid understanding of Apache, Tomcat and MySQL
Be able to work in coding environment in Windows and deploy to Linux
Proven experience in maintaining risk adverse engineering release cycles
Ability to configure and maintain mail servers, Apache James experience preferred
Understanding of UNIX commands, shell scripts and standalone processes
Flexible schedule to meet engineering delivery in off peak hours
BSCS or equivalent
