I gave 30 days notice at where I live now and have been for over 4 years. I have always to been the master tenant usually had a roommate.

I just finished last week helping out at a meditation center near Kelseyville (Lake County, CA) as we hosted about 40 people in our opening 10 day course.
I moved to the Bay area on Thurs. and am ready to stick around for some time before heading to a new center being built near Joshua Tree outside of LA.
Some of my favorite activities are to volunteer in the community, read books (Thich Nhat Hanh, Neal Stephenson, Anastasia, Daniel Quinn, Howard Zinn etc..), listen to music (every kind imaginable), correspond on my laptop w/ friends, and to converse with diverse groups of people about current events, the arts, spirituality, and many other topics.
I can cook (I have some simple and healthy vegan/vegetarian recipes that can feed upwards of 60 people), clean, and help people in a variety of ways since I practice compassionate listening and regular meditation.
According to my friends, coworkers, and former bosses - I am reliable, flexible, honest, creative, and I have a great sense of humor.
And yes I meditate everyday to balance my mind. The silent one-hour sittings typically happen in the early morning and evenings. Needless to say I am quiet, clean, and non-everything (drink, smoke etc.).
The meditation practice, combined with yoga, leaves me very relaxed all the time, and able to deal with any situation that arises in a calm and collected manner.
I get along with everyone I meet and I am nearly always in a positive mood. Additionally I practice tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion for all beings.

The problem is, I got a car, a cat, a 52" HDTV, kick ass stainless steel cookware, a bose surround sound system, a ton of computer stuff (I have an office here), and so much more. The new place would have to be somewhat un-furnished, I'm the master tenant here so I've got a lot... I mean, a LOT of stuff! I even have a solar panel that cooks up 160 watts of usable electricity.
Personality wise, i'm thrifty, into biking, love wind surfing and/or kit boarding (the place would have to have some space for this as well. Love rock climbing, like to curl up in front of the TV to watch a movie or what not. Into simpsons, family guy, Nova, the commonwealth group; avid listener to NPR. I'm professional, but I also ride my bike to work, go to comedy nights and enjoy having beer with the coworkers after hours.

I am ecstatic at the idea of a normal existence. My terms. I shall require a proper bedroom with bay windows and a fully equipped closet (walk-in is a must and a seating area/ mirror is hoped for). I cannot commit to anything more than a years rent paid up front. Anything more would be too much and would severely deplete my stipend. While I would appreciate a roommate of class, I would no doubt consider a working class citizen and would consider employing said individual should he be up to the task. I will not have time for housework and other menial duties so such help would be compensated. You should be educated on the usual subjects. I've been apartment searching for about 2 weeks and come across a lot of disgusting places; this was the first 'gem.' Laundry, dishwasher, fireplace, deck, city view, huge living room area, open, and really bright.

I currently live by myself in the Marina district but I am looking to reduce my monthly cash outflow (I handle the rent, all the utilities + cable, rent a parking spot due to the neighborhood, etc. by myself which is extremely expensive).
I've been contemplating this move for sometime now, and as I read through the rooms for rent section it's difficult for me to find one ad that really sticks so I figured I'd post my own since I am not in a rush to leave, nor am I bound to not move out immediately (in other words, I can take as much or as little time to find the right fit as is needed).
A bit about me: 34, male, full time professional in the computer industry. I work a standard mon-fri schedule which consists of getting up around 6am and getting home around 5pm (if I am not attending yoga that night, yoga is a new endeavor for me and I am finding it very rewarding).
My pug, Sophi, is adorable and super friendly. She is also a tank....as in we have a backyard now, and in the mornings if I don't have time to walk her (which happens from time to time) she will usually lay down on the couch after eating breakfast and not even go pee until I come home from work, and even then she is more interested in playing than doing her business right away....hence she really, really is house broken.
I would say I am a 'light' drinker - most of the time I will not drink on work nights at all so I can be in bed by 10pm and up no later than 6am. There is the occasional exception of course but I am strongly inclined to find a similar or a couple similar roommates.
One point of interest, I have been living at my current residence for 1 year and 9 months now- I have never been late on rent and have not received a single 3 or 5 day notice due to forgetting to drop off my check, I've been very diligent about that. However, my credit is in shambles as I was gambling on my company's stock to do great and ended up with a lot of charged off credit card debt. Again, rent, utilities, etc. are always paid but I'm going to need to reduce my monthly outflow to start paying down my back debt.
More interesting facts- I'm a scuba diver and I love it!!! As noted above, I recently started taking Iyengar yoga classes 1-2 nights per week.
I have a backyard here which I invested a 'lot' of money into, those items which I did not plant in the ground but rather in nice pots I'd ideally like to be able to bring with me. That would consist of a Blood Gold Japanese Maple, An Angel's Trumpet, Abutilon, Succullent Cacti, and a few others.
I'm also into jogging after work, reading, indoor rock climbing (another new activity), and I like to cook although I'm not the best cook out there ;).
Another reason for me attempting to find a solid roommate scenario, aside from paying off back debt, building a bigger savings up, and having other people around to converse with is to be able to take vacations to foreign countries maybe once a year. So far, I've only been to Spain.
I'd also welcome the chance of having a master bedroom with a private bath attached to it.

However, I would probably prefer a reasonably quiet everyday atmosphere with mature housemates. I don't want to be around drugs. I'm not much of a drinker, and I don't smoke. I don't mind social drinking but I probably wouldn't want to live with a smoker. Having friends over is the same as the drinking -- I usually won't have many over but it's cool if you do, just not every week. I like to keep things mellow on weeknights, unless you want to play a game of Wii. I will beat you!
Housework and Bills: I clean up after myself and I like the places where I live to be clean as well, but I'm not anal about it. I have been known to go to Safeway and pick up one of those Rug Doctors a few times a year. And I pay my bills on time.
I am also willing to look for a full apartment or a small house/studio with other people.
For work I own a small IT consulting business that, more or less, consumes my life these days. Most of what I do involves being on-site at my clients’ during the day although occasionally there are some times during the day when I may be at home doing the books or whathavyou.
I'm an avid mountain biker and try to ride once a week or so, I like going to the gym most days, I enjoy travel, and watching a little TV or a movie from time to time. I have been described as a generous, considerate, neat individual. I am social with my housemates yet I am not looking for a new best friend.
Ideally, I'd like to find a room share that offers a bright, decent-sized room, is more or less centrally located (Potrero, Bernal, Mission, Twin Peaks, Diamond Heights, Upper Market, Castro, etc.) and has tolerable parking. I don’t have that much stuff - just basic furniture for my room (though if need be, I would be happy to throw down for living room furniture/TV). But I could use some space to store my mountain bike and biking stuff - tools, helmet, etc. Ideally this would be a garage or outdoor accessible storage area
I have lived in a number of room share situations since I've arrived in SF and hardly ever have any conflicts with my housemates. I believe in communication and mature, adult behavior. I can provide references from current/former housemates and a copy of my my credit report.

I'm a social drinker so I will have a beer from time to time. I don’t mind 420 but I do not indulge these days myself – I have to have my wits about me at all times in order to run my business.
The only deal-breaker for me is that I am allergic to dogs and cats (and probably anything else with fur) which is a shame since I love animals. I probably wouldn't go for a cigarette-smoking household either - again, allergies.
What else goes in this? Not a cigarette smoker or druggie, though I drink. I am always looking for ways to eliminate things from my life, forever in pursuit of a minimalist life. I am clean and I always lift the seat. I hate dirty fingernails and loud eating. I tend to obsess over the alignment of the objects in front of me.
I love to do new things, but I have trouble doing them on my own. I'd love to live with people who do things. Fun things.

I have a siamese cat named Don Miguel. He used to be called "Darla"
untill I found out he was a boy-cat. He is not crazy. He is
independent but cuddly and knows alot about life. He does not eat
plants or pee on furnature and he really seems to like humans alot.
Also likes other cats alot. He might like dogs too, I dont know yet.

My business woes began when 1 of my clients had a father pass, and she moved away.
My next fall was a huge contract from a lawyer that i had been cooking for nightly. she had some huge financial problems and had to cancel her contract for the quarter which ended up being indefinite. Just one thing after another, I slowly lost half of my clients from this economy. My other clients were not able to be serviced by me because everything was crumbling. Once i lost my home with my custom kitchen i could no longer cook or prepare parties for anyone.
This brings me to my current standing...instinctively i kept seeking clients for smaller jobs. For my business, and my entrepreneurial history made it impossible for me to fathom working for someone else. Putting in applications and interviewing for silly pointless jobs, with even sillier salaries never crossed my mind.
Well until recently...I cant seem to rebuild my business in this awful economy and after 2 years, my business failure and the lost of 2 homes..i now throw in my towel TEMPORARILY! I am now interviewing for anyone that will hire me. but guess what? no jobs!

Although I am a vegan and eat mostly organic foods, you don’t have to and I can handle having meat in the house. Also, I am a lesbian but I don’t see it as defining me in any way. I am open-minded and have many friends from many different ethnic backgrounds and sexual preferences. Most of them are dancers, artists, musicians or writers.
About my dog: Very well behaved, sweet, and intelligent. 90 lbs. Loves long walks on the beach, taking naps in the sun, and training games. I am particular about his diet, feeding and treats to keep him healthy.
