VIZ Media is looking for a Magazine Sales & Marketing Associate to join our Sales & Marketing team!
• Ability to manage sales reporting, including analysis of sales trends.
• 3-5 years of practical business experience.
• Some magazine business experience PREFERRED.
SUMMARY
Work closely with Senior Director, Brand Management, Magazine Sales & Marketing to achieve overall magazine sales goals and assist with the operations of Magazines and Sales & Marketing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Coordinates interdepartmental workflow for the sales and marketing of Shonen Jump, a nationally distributed magazine
2. Oversees internal routing and approvals
3. Oversees magazine distribution logistics
4. Manages Customer Service inquiries to the Publisher
5. Compiles Sales & Marketing reporting, including document management
6. Assists Sr. Director, Brand Management, Magazine Sales & Marketing with administrative duties
7. Performs project-specific Sales & Marketing analysis, as needed
In addition to these responsibilities, performs other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Some magazine business experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to speak/understand Japanese helpful, but not required.
• Ability to manage sales reporting, including analyzing sales trends, when needed.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Comfortable serving as a liaison with different departments, external consultants, and external business partners
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, as well as work autonomously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service providers and staff.
• Ability to work legally in the United States.
• Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.
MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
• 3-5 years of practical business experience.
• Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise the work of others.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position works predominantly in an office environment. Approximately 75% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, mailing machinery.
As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. OTHER INFORMATION
Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights, on an as-needed basis, is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
