Product Marketing Manager at 1020 Placecast

1020 Placecast is a VC funded San Francisco start-up focused on location-based marketing. We are looking for an exceptional Product Marketing Manager who will help define and deliver the next generation of opt-in mobile marketing programs to users around the world. He or she will do this by finding creative, new ways for consumers to integrate their mobile devices into the way that they shop at physical store locations, enabling them to have a deeper and more relevant relationship with the brands that they care about.

The Product Marketing Manager will drive the consumer and retailer offerings, manage the feature roadmaps and work closely with Product Management and Engineering to translate requirements into technical specs and development priorities. He or she will also work closely with sales, day-to-day implementation managers and the creative and research & analytics teams to bring the new offering to market in the U.S. and abroad.

The successful candidate will display an exceptional attention to detail, the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs, priorities, and timelines, and a demonstrated track record of delivering clear product and market requirements created with input from competitive analysis, our Customers and internal Sales and Business Development groups.

This position is based at headquarters in San Francisco, CA with some travel involved.

Responsibilities

• Develop, own and champion the vision for the product both internally and externally with clients, prospects and the broader industry.
• Methodically and continually think through every aspect of the user experience and the retailer use cases, putting both sides’ needs and expectations first in the definition of requirements.
• Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of objectives, market characteristics and cost factors through market research, competitive analysis, pricing, customer engagement, and business planning.
• Evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.
• Effectively collaborate with business, operations, sales, engineering, and design/creative teams to develop requirements, drive projects to completion, and bring products to market.
• Build positive relationships and trust with the different functional groups across the company with respect to the development of the new offering.

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA from top-tier school preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in product marketing, product management or strategy.
• Expertise with consumer-facing products and services.
• A passion for product design and marketing (B-B or B-C).
• Excellent judgment and analytical skills.
• Outstanding communications, leadership, and negotiating skills.
• Outstanding team player with the ability to coordinate people and activities across multiple functional disciplines.
• Ability to balance consumer needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions.
• Demonstrated strong capabilities in communicating and presenting.
• A track record of developing and launching products.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with digital media, CRM, or email marketing programs for both branding and performance models.
• Operational experience with consumer market research (primary and secondary).
• Consulting experience at top tier strategy consulting firms like BCG, Booz Allen, Bain or McKinsey a plus.
