Marketing Assistant -- Book Publishing

Geek book publisher No Starch Press (nostarch.com) seeks a Marketing Assistant to support
our sales and marketing efforts. This is an entry-level position with real potential for growth.

We’re a very picky publisher with a focus on publishing quality books (both print and
electronic) on Open Source, security, hacking, LEGO, and alternative operating systems. Best-sellers
include titles like Steal This Computer Book, Hacking: The Art of Exploitation,
The Manga Guides, and The TCP/IP Guide.

This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t want to be just another cog in the wheel of some
giant corporation. We’re a small company with a close-knit environment and a staff that cares. If you’re
a self-starter with a passion for technical books and the desire to dig-in to the sales and marketing side of
the publishing process, this just might be the job for you.

You must be an excellent writer with the ability to proofread your work and to organize
and manage multiple tasks effectively. A positive attitude and a good sense of humor would be great, too.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with sales and marketing efforts for approximately 25 titles per year

Research and pitch media; follow-up

Maintain reviewer database

Draft copy, including back cover copy, newsletter, press releases, sales materials

Some customer service including packing and shipping

REQUIREMENTS:

A good head on your shoulders. Passion. The ability to speak and write clearly and effectively. Tech savvy. Desire.
