Child Life Specialist II
Child Life Specialist: Responsible for promoting optimum growth and development of pediatric patients and their families by creating a therapeutic environment which minimizes psychological trauma and promotes mastery of health care experiences. Interview and evaluate patient and family members to obtain psychosocial history. Develop psychosocial assessments and formulate diagnoses and treatment plans based upon an evaluation of past, present and predicted future psychosocial, intra-psychic and interpersonal functioning. Implement child life treatment programs using a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon a demonstrated understanding of normative human development. Develop and utilize community resources and organizations to meet patient and family needs. Provide consultation to members of the health team on the psychosocial factors related to illness and health; and provide orientation, in-service training, and/or teaching to multidisciplinary health care staff to further their understanding of the child life role in the health care process.
Qualifications:Must have Master's degree in child development; child life education or related field, Child Life certification, and 3 yrs of exp. as a Child Life Specialist.Child Life Specialist II Child Life Certification required.
