HEALTHY MALE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
$100 for Sports Performance Study – Untrained Individuals
Qualifying Criteria:
+ Male
+ Between ages of 18 & 35
+ Healthy Weight (Body Mass Index between 19 and 25 kg/m2)
+ Relatively untrained =
No running, hiking, lower body weight training, yoga, martial arts, rock climbing, or cycling in the past 2 months
+ No prior glucosamine supplementation
+ No alcohol or nicotine addictions
The Stone Research Foundation is conducting a study investigating the effects of a glucosamine formulation on muscle soreness and sports performance.
The study will require less than 1 hour of your time and you will be compensated $100 upon completion of the study. You will receive glucosamine or placebo. You will not know what treatment you received until the research study is complete.
The research facility is located in the Marina District on Buchannan Street, near Fort Mason Center, directly across the street from the Marina Safeway. It is easily accessible by MUNI bus lines 22, 28, and 30.
If you qualify for the study, you will come to the testing site on 4 days over the course of a month. You must not engage in any intense lower body exercise or take any pain relieving medication while involved in the study.
You can expect muscle soreness for up to 72 hours after the 10-minute bench step exercise test.
You will need to abstain from alcohol for 12 hours prior to the 2nd study visit and from caffeine for 12 hours prior to every study visit.
