Senior Web Engineer - PHP / Ruby
We are looking for an experienced web developer to join our team to build cutting edge web applications. The ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented problem solver, who can take some direction, and then proceed independently. Our infrastructure is built on Ruby on Rails, MySQL, PHP, and Javascript. An ideal candidate would have experience in all of these technologies, and be able to float easily between frontend and backend with more focus being on the backend.

Potrero Media excels at driving qualified traffic to websites by using both paid search and search engine optimization techniques or SEO.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree (Computer Science or equivalent field) or a combination of education and relevant experience
3+ years web development experience
Scaling a web application beyond a single server, especially in Ruby and/or PHP
Integrating with lots of web services! (JSON/XML/REST/SOAP)
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Sense of humor
PLUSES:
Experience installing and configuring memcached/monit/god/postfix/varnish.
Familiarity or interest in VOIP / Telephony application development (asterisk knowledge is a plus)
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Hates ugly/unreadable code.
Doesn't like untested code, but doesn't obsess about 100% code coverage either.
Knows to KISS and that sometimes less is more.
Knows how and when to refactor.
Is very comfortable in a linux environment.
Proficient with CSS/HTML. Knows how to build clean, simple interfaces.
